A friend asked me if I knew of any sports bars on the Peninsula that have HiDef big screen (e.g. 30") TVs. I don't know, so I thought I'd ask here.

Wed, October 11, 2006 - 11:41 AMI don't have an answer regarding the Peninsula, but I'm wondering aloud, is there any sports bar in the whole Bay Area which has a plethora of HiDef big screens??
When I last visited Austin, Texas, two years ago, there was a brand new sports bar that had at least 17 HiDef big screen LCD TVs, along with a handful of older projection TV systems. The place was practically lit exclusively by TVs. It was also packed with sports fans. You know how passionate Texas fans are with football at every level. The place was sort of like an ESPN Sportszone establishment.
Just wondering if there's any place around here like that. -

Tue, October 17, 2006 - 12:49 AMTo answer both JC and you, there is a place that just opened right in downtown Mountain View on the corner of Castro & California. I'm spacing on the name right now but it is the old Der Weinershnitzl (sp) if you know where that was...
I haven't eaten there yet, but looked in and there are like 14 big screen LCDs (don't know if they are HD though) and they even have one out in the patio.

Tue, October 17, 2006 - 11:17 AMI don't know if they're HD or not, but the BJ's brewpub in San Mateo (in the Bridgepoint shopping center across from Bed Bath & Beyond) has a ton of TV's almost always showing sports. My BF says that this location used to be a huge sports bar not so long ago, called Champs I think?
Either way, they have good beer and grub too. -
